First Presbyterian Church's focus is making Jesus known in Dubois County Indiana. We love our community and we exist to glorify God and express God's desire for them to be saved.
First Presbyterian Church affirms orthodox Christian teaching. This means we adhere to some of the most ancient creeds of the church including the Apostle’s Creed and the Nicene Creed. In addition, we affirm the Gospel Coalition’s Confessional Statement, the Westminster Confession of Faith and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. We uphold unity on these creeds and doctrines and allow for diverse opinions about others. We do not endorse dogmatic teaching about secondary matters. For further information about what we consider to be secondary matters, see this helpful article by Albert Mohler.
One of the secondary matters we choose not to divide over is mode of baptism. If your preferred method of baptism is paedobaptism or creedobaptism, we will not go against your conscience and force you to choose one over the other.
First Presbyterian Church is an independent presbyterian church. Our desire is to fellowship with as many true churches and evangelical ministries as we can. We love to see the image of Christ in other churches and ministries. In fact, we make it a practice to pray for other local churches in our community in our worship services. Our conviction is that God’s people ought to hold firmly to their distinctives and still fellowship broadly with others who believe the Bible is the infallible, authoritative Word of God, and that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.
In summary we are: Christian, Evangelical, and Reformed.
