Just as He Promised

Just as He Promised

The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”

 – Psalm 110:1

Psalm 110 is one of the most quoted passages of Scripture in the New Testament, and in it we see that the headship of Christ and the footstool of His enemies was long prophesied.

When thinking about the eternal plans of God we must remember that the crushing of His enemies was always the end. He said so in the curse on the serpent, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:15)

Let us take up courage in the day we find ourselves. Christ’s victory has been as sure as Himself. He, being the incarnate Word, gave us many words of prophecy to assure our forefathers of His coming and of His triumph. Today, those words have become ours.

We often make much of the prophecies concerning Christ’s birth, crucifixion, and resurrection, but there are dozens regarding His second coming. Many of those prophecies concern the triumph of Christ over His enemies.

Do not let yourself be discouraged when enemies surround you and the church. Do not let circumstantial evidence override what you know is absolutely true: Christ has promised He will triumph over His enemies and do it for the preservation of His body, the church.
